A short conversation about pharmaceutical marketing

"We need your help. The boys in the lab came up with something new and corporate wants it on the shelves by Tuesday."

"Whaddya got?"

"It's called tamsulosin and it's used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia."

"Has it been tested extensively so possible side effects that maybe even more harmful than the condition the drug is designed to treat in the first place have been eliminated?"

"No, but
here's a list of those side effects that you can just list in the ad copy."

"Okay, standard operating procedure then."

"Right. Management just needs you to come up with a consumer-friendly, easy-to-remember name."

"And what's it supposed to do again?"

"Basically, it maximizes the flow of urine."

"Tell them I'll be leaving work early today."
